Beta Terms of Use

Effective date: July 18, 2026 Provider: Actuarial Labs LLC ("we", "us") Product: ActuarialOS for Excel (the "Add-in"), a Microsoft Excel add-in of aos_* worksheet functions and related tools, provided as beta (pre-release) software.

By installing or using the Add-in you ("you") agree to these Beta Terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it.

1. Beta software

The Add-in is pre-release and under active development. It may contain errors, may change or be withdrawn at any time, and is not guaranteed to be complete, accurate, available, or supported. We may modify or discontinue the Add-in (or these terms) at any time.

2. License

We grant you a free, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Add-in for evaluation during the beta. You may not sell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute it; copy or distribute it beyond your own use; or reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble it except where that restriction is prohibited by law. We may suspend or revoke this license at any time. All intellectual-property rights in the Add-in remain ours.

3. Your professional responsibility (please read)

The Add-in is a calculation aid, not a substitute for your professional judgment.

• You are solely responsible for the appropriateness, selection, inputs, results, and use of any calculation, and for any work product, valuation, filing, advice, or deliverable derived from it.
• If you are a credentialed actuary, you remain the responsible actuary for any work to which the Add-in contributes, including compliance with applicable professional standards (e.g., the ASOPs), qualification standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Independently verify every result before relying on it. The Add-in is designed for reproducibility and is cross-checked against the ActuarialOS engine, but embedded reference data (mortality tables, improvement scales, interest/segment rates, statutory limits, yield curves, and other published series) is an attested INPUT that you must verify against the original source publication before any signed or production use. Several functions and tables carry "verify vs source" notes in the documentation for this reason.
• Default conventions (payment timing/frequency, improvement basis, etc.) are selectable; you are responsible for choosing the conventions and assumptions appropriate to your plan and basis.

4. No warranty

THE ADD-IN AND ALL DATA AND OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including (without limitation) implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Add-in or its results will be accurate, error-free, uninterrupted, or that defects will be corrected.

5. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or for any damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Add-in or any reliance on its results — even if advised of the possibility. To the extent any liability is not excludable, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Add-in will not exceed USD $100 (the Add-in is provided to you free of charge during the beta). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

6. Data & privacy

The Add-in performs its calculations locally on your machine. We do not collect, receive, or transmit your plan, census, participant, or other input data. If license validation is enabled, it transmits only metadata — a license/account token and the tool name and version — never your input data or calculation results. 7. Feedback

If you send us feedback, bug reports, or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them to improve our products, without obligation or compensation to you.

8. Term & termination

These terms apply for the duration of the beta. We may end the beta, or terminate or suspend your access, at any time. On termination you must stop using and remove the Add-in. Sections 3–7 and 9 survive termination.

9. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Informal resolution first: before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at hello@actuarialos.io and give us 30 days to try to resolve the matter. If it isn't resolved, the state and federal courts located in the State of Michigan have exclusive jurisdiction and venue over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the Add-in, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Each party bears its own costs and fees except as a court orders otherwise.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
